Ivan Verbytskyi

BIO:

Ivan Verbytskyi, the director of Cedos, is a devoted researcher with interests spanning housing policies, urban transformations, local governance, civic engagement, and more. Holding degrees in Political Science and Sociology from the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, he assumed the role of Cedos director in 2019. Since he arrived at Cedos in 2014, he has delved into urban development, civil society, and civic participation, notably contributing to initiatives like Mistosite urban media and the Ukrainian Urban Forum.

He played roles of editor and project manager for Mistosite urban media from 2015 to 2019 and took on the position of project manager for the Ukrainian Urban Forum between 2018 and 2019. He has been involved in significant projects such as the Council of Europe’s initiative in Ukraine and the development of the Integrated Urban Development Concept for Kyiv’s Podilskyi District. Ivan’s skills also extend to facilitation and coaching, as demonstrated by his work as a grassroots democracy trainer for the Green Academy from 2019 to 2021. His commitment to social engagement is evident through his volunteering during the 2014 revolution and his contributions as a student representative and member of organizing committees.
